| 2008 RIESLING A brand new release from Crawford River in late 2008. Tasting notes pending. ALCOHOL: 14.0% WINEMAKER: JOHN THOMSON, BELINDA THOMSON DRY GROWN · HAND PICKED 2008 YOUNG VINES RIESLING A vibrant, fresh wine abounding with spice, lime peel and our hallmark, chalky minerality. The delicious, round palate displays an abundance of up-front fruit, combining with tight natural acidity which leads to a lively, lingering finish. Great Summer drinking. This is very much a Crawford River Riesling, although understandably not as tightly structured nor as complex as those from our thirty-three year old vines. ALC: 12.0% WINEMAKER: JOHN THOMSON, BELINDA THOMSON DRY GROWN : HAND PICKED 2008 SAUVIGNON BLANC SEMILLON Another lively, luscious, fruit driven version of this blend. The growing season in 2008 gave fabulous fruit results in the vineyard displaying clean, crisp flavours. In this wine they are shown as an array of tropical flavours, including red papaya and passionfruit though backed up as always by strong natural acidity with a good structural backbone and slight hint of fresh grass lent by the Semillon. A soft and richly textured palate reflects and magnifies these complex characters, whilst remaining tightly structured, focussed and elegant. The finish is dry , chalky, clean and crisp. The fruit quality of both components of this blend reveals the rewards of our consistent and careful management of crop levels during the growing season. ALCOHOL : 13.0% WINEMAKER : JOHN THOMSON, BELINDA THOMSON DRY GROWN : HAND PICKED 2008 ROSE Hot on the heels of our inaugural 2007, this vivacious wine is another example of an elegant, dry, multi-layered Rose. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, we crush the fruit directly to press and leave to cold macerate until the flavour and colour are just right! We believe this technique gives a purity of flavour as well as extracting just the right amount of minerality and texture through its gentle pressing. The colour is a delicate salmon pink, with a vibrant nose of summer berries, cherries and hints of white nectarine underpinned by a fine, chalky minerality. Currently walking out the door due to sheer drinkability, so get in before it all disappears! ALCOHOL : 13.0% WINEMAKER : JOHN THOMSON, BELINDA THOMSON DRY GROWN : HAND PICKED 2004 CABERNET SAUVIGNON We are very excited to release this latest Cabernet Sauvignon. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, with a small component of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, this wine is made from our low-yielding, dry-grown vines, planted in 1975. Meticulous attention is paid in the vineyard throughout the season, with careful canopy management to allow maximum light and air infiltration. It is elegant, multi-layered and well structured and has been fermented using indigenous yeasts in small open fermenters and hand-plunged. A portion has been given extended maceration and individual blocks were kept separate throughout the maturation of 24 months in a variety of French oak. Malolactic fermentation was allowed to proceed naturally in the Spring. Lifted aromas of ripe mulberries and blackcurrant mingle with liquorice, cloves and dusty oak on the nose, leading to a deliciously savoury, complex and finely balanced palate. Fine tannins and minerality integrate seamlessly with overtones of cedar, tobacco and chocolate, leading to a long, structured finish of great finesse. ALCOHOL ·13.5% WINEMAKER · JOHN THOMSON, BELINDA THOMSON DRY GROWN ·HAND PICKED 2004 CABERNET MERLOT A deliciously fragrant bouquet infused with red berries, spices and chocolate is a wonderful introduction to this appealing wine. Long and even, the supple palate is a complex and savoury amalgam of mulberries, aniseed and sweet spices intermingling with chalky minerality and fine oak. Elegant and nicely balanced, this soft wine with silky tannins is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 50% Cabernet Franc/Merlot. It has been aged in a variety of French oak barriques for 12 months. For those customers who are relatively new to our mailing list, each year we hold back a small portion of our Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon - and occasionally other special wines - which are cellared in ideal conditions, before being released to you as aged, museum wines. These wines are always in short supply, so we advise you to order early to avoid disappointment! |
