2018 APIS Gewürztraminer
Talc, powdery perfume and notes of spice open to a full, long palate, enhanced texturally by time on lees. Red apple peel, lychee and delicate floral notes together with underlying earthy spice underpin this delicious wine. Dry and savoury, the balanced palate is subtle and long, with refreshing acid and excellent persistence.
Screwcap $25 There were a couple of opportunistic wines made at Crawford River in 2018. We bottled them under a label Belinda started some years ago for anomalous production! The white is a Gewurztraminer from fruit that was purchased from a renown Henty vineyard – a short distance from our site as the crow flies. A first for Crawford River. Belinda used a combination of skin contact, oak and tank ferments and the wine was fermented with natural yeasts. Belinda wanted to elicited the more savoury, spicy elements Gewurztraminer can exhibit which she believes speaks of the area from which it comes. Un-fined. Sterile filtered. |
